VIII. Accompanying material (1). The vocal scores were published by Ditson, Boston (c1880, c1908) and by Cranz, Hamburg (1879?, pl. no. C. 24735). The Ditson editions are in English, the Cranz in German. Several copies contain alternate text and carry the names of performers. The orchestra parts are holographs. They include separate printed copies of the overture, published by Cranz (pl. no. 25525, 25572) and "Selections from Suppe's Operette Boccaccio," published by Carl Fischer (c1880). The vocal parts are in German, 42 being holographs and 28 manuscript. Many carry names of performers on covers. The chorus parts are in German, being holographs and 19 manuscript, and performers' names appear on several copies. The libretto is in English, published by McWilliams, New York, 1886. The promptbooks are in German and English. The German include two holograph copies by Cranz, Leipzig, and two manuscript books in three volumes. The English promptooks include six typescript or mimeo typescript books, four of which are labelled "Winston version"; five manuscript books in nine volumes, one of which is labelled "McCaull ed." and bears the signature of McCaull, one "Harry B. Smith" version, and one labelled "Property of D.J. Sherwood." There are seven mimeo manuscript promptbooks and six in nine volumes based on the printed libretto. Two books, in five volumes, consist of libretto pasted into a ledger with manuscript annotations; one labelled "correct version," and one "property of Ellis Ryse." Four books consist of the libretto with annotations and interleaved pages of stage directions. These include copies published by John B. Kuntz, Baltimore, 1888; and McWilliams, New York, 1886. One is labelled "property of Max Figman." The dialogue parts are in English and German. There are 208 English parts. Sixty-three are mimeo manuscript in four sets, 21 are manuscript in 3 sets, and 124 are typed mimeo in 7 sets. All also include miscellaneous extra pages. The German includes 3 typed and 53 manuscript parts. One set bears the stamp of the "Thalia Theater, Nov. 21, 1879, Mathilde Cottrelly." The accompanying material consists of a German holograph scene and property plot.
